Many of us are very selfless people who want to help others as much as we can and in the process we kind of forget about ourselves. While helping others is very noble and great, you are forgetting that without you being in good shape, you will not be able to help them.
It may work for a while but if you constantly keep prioritizing others and neglecting yourself and your health, you will eventually burn out and be of no use for others or yourself.
The airplane analogy is something that can be applied to so many instances in life. Help yourself first with the oxygen mask before you help others. Otherwise you will not survive and you could not help anyone.
This is why it is so important that you understand that it is vital to take time for yourself as well as spending some money on yourself. This is not being selfish or egoistic, this is what you actually need to function at your very best so that you are able to do all the other things you want to do. And let me guess, this is probably something you would tell other people to do right?
So make and take time for exercise on a regular basis. It does not have to include going to a gym or expensive equipment. Just walking also counts! On top of that, take the time to learn about food and nutrition the proper way. Forget googling “what is the best diet”. Dr. Google did not have any nutrition science training. Select a registered dietitian who suits you and your goals and learn everything you can from this person so you eventually can be independent and have the knowledge to make the right decisions for yourself.
